Four Tet: Kool FM 12"
Never one to settle for the status quo, Four Tet is constantly pushing forward. For the latest release on his own TEXT imprint, Kieran Hebden gives us the first glimpse of his forthcoming Beautiful Rewind album. If this is any indication of where things are heading, then expect a triumphant return to sampled break beats in dance music. Kool FM fuses the classic Amen break over a tough 4 x 4 stomp. Not exactly jungle (though there is obvious influence), and not really house either.. this is something totally fresh. On the flip, Hebden gives us an ambient synth drone variation of the track, the "Bliss Mix". Limited edition of 1000.
