Jean Jacques Perrey: Moog Indigo (180g) Vinyl LP

Jean Jacques Perrey: Moog Indigo (180g) Vinyl LP

Most people will recognize "E.V.A." as the track was used for Gang Starr's "Just to Get a Rep" (in addition to many others like Kool Keith, Pusha T, & Fatboy Slim), but this album by Jean-Jacques Perrey contains so much more. A true pioneer of electronic music, Perrey experimented with forward sounds to create his eclectic brand of pop, and Moog Indigo, a 1970 album built around the Moog synthesizer, is a prime example. The space funk of the aforementioned "E.V.A." is certainly a standout, but also check out "Soul City," a R&B instrumental where the famed synth takes the place of horns and cruises along with various layers of rhythm and melody. "Hello Dolly" is also notable as Perrey inserts plenty of swing and retro-futuristic jazz vibes to the tune, and "Gossipo Perpetuo" also attests to the avant-garde vision of the French composer. This is the first high-fidelity, 180g vinyl reissue of the album since it's og pressing in 1970, and the tracks have been mastered from the original analog album master.

  • first high-fidelity pressing since 1970 release
